Milestones in the history of August Bertrams GmbH


Foundation of the company in Cologne by August Bertrams, production programme includes punched parts, bent parts, sheet metal formed parts.


The production programme was expanded to include folded profiles.


Relocation of the company from Cologne Mühlheim to Cologne Porz. The administrative and production areas now comprise approx. 2,000 m².


Change in the type of company to a GmbH (limited company), nominal capital DM 500,000 (EUR 255,645), company registered in Cologne. Company’s business activities: manufacture of steel and non-ferrous profiles through punching and pressing as well as sheet metal processing.


Enlargement of the production buildings to approx. 2,500 m².


Increase in the nominal capital after a shareholders’ resolution on 21.12.1990 to DM 800,000 (EUR 409,033).


Establishment of the new branch in Berka/Werra with a hall area of approx. 4,000 m².


Start of production in Berka/Werra with 15 employees. Expansion of the production programme to include 3D laser parts and the complete processing of sheets up to 8,150 mm long and up to 10 mm thick.


Successful introduction and certification of a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9002 at both company locations.


Expansion of the production halls in Berka/Werra by a further 2,160 m². Addition to the press park of a 1,000-tonne press brake machine with a processing length of up to 10,050 mm.


The company now employs more than 60 workers.


Successful conversion and certification of the quality management system to the new DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.



Completing our product profile through the addition of coating (KTL and powder coating) to our range of services.


Addition tothe press park of a Trumpf 4030 laser cutting system incl. Liftmaster.


Addition to the press park of a 500 tonne press brake machine with a processing length of up to 7500 mm.


The August Bertrams GmbH company location in Cologne has existed for 70 years.
